A vital element of successful execution

“Goals cannot sound noble but vague.

Targets cannot be so blurry they can’t be hit.

Your direction has to be so vivid that if you randomly woke one of your employees in the middle of the night and asked him, ‘Where are we going?’ he could still answer in a half-asleep stupor.”

Right now, we're helping a client build & integrate an operating system for their organization to improve execution.

I like to use the 4 Disciplines of Execution as a framework for these.

And every time I re-read the book...

This quote from Jack Welch always stands out.

If people don't know where you are going...

You can't blame them for going the wrong direction.

Always a great reminder.
